Rugged Resolve is an independent company located in central Texas. Matt is the owner, designer and maker. He is dedicated to producing high quality, dependable goods. Matt’s focus is leather goods, but also works in ceramics, wood, and metal.

For over 20 years, I have worked in the high tech industry. “The longer I spend in the high tech world the more I long for simple things. Real, physical items made with my hands that I control the quality of and can confidently stand behind.”

I have always enjoyed making things with my hands. Growing up in a home where my mom fostered creativity and encouraged exploration of many crafts has been a big influence for my love of creating. From an early age, I began learning traditional skills like drawing, painting, woodworking, ceramics, candle making, leather craft and much more. My sister and I would make wooden cutting boards, candles, leather key chains and coin purses and then either give them as gifts or try to sell them.

Where did the name Rugged Resolve come from?
Rugged and dependable is what I strive for in my craft as well as personally. So much of what is produced these days is disposable. In my mind, quality means that “things are made to last and can be passed on to others”.
The noun Resolve means “firm determination to do something”. It was near the New Year when I decided on the name. I am resolved to make rugged, dependable goods that people can use and that can stand the test of time.
